Philip Pullman

Philip Pullman is an author of over 22 books, most of which are children’s fiction,the most popular being his trilogy, His Dark Materials which has won several awards and prizes. Born in 1946,he has lived and been educated in many countries including, England, Zimbabwe and Australia. Many of his books have been translated into successful films and plays. Not only is he an author but he also illustrates his books, namely His Dark Materials which has recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. Also in 2017 fans were treated to the long-awaited prequel The Book of Dust. Outside his passion as an author he is an atheist and has strong views on children’s education and creativity.

Ariana Grande KRISTEN

Ariana Grande is my favourite singer who has released many songs. I chose to write about her today because of the joy I get from listening to her songs. Ariana Grande was born in Italy but moved to the US when she was only young. Ariana has a brother who is 11 years older then her and she also has her mum and dad. Ariana Grande did a concert in the Manchester Arena which unfortunately got bombed in a terror attach earlier this year.In respect of that , Ariana decided to make a concert called ONE LOVE MCR where she raise over £2 million.

Biography on Péle

Pele was born on the 23rd October 1940 in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Pele had two younger sibling. He was named after the American inventor Thomas Edison. His parents decided to remove the ‘i’ in Edison leaving the name Edson. Unfortunately, there was a slight mix up on his birth certificate which resulting him with name Edison as  his surname. his football career started in the 1950s all the way over to 1970s. Pele played in the position forward attacking midfielder on the team Santos and his nationality team as brazil. he scored a total amount of goals of 77 goals for the amazing Brazil

Marie Curie- a life-changing scientist 

  

Born as Maria Sklodowska on the 7th November 1867 in Warsaw, Poland Marie was immediately hooked with a love for science and desperately wanted to go to university. But back then Polish women were not allowed to go to university and study science.

 At a young age, her mother died and her farther could no longer support her so the only option was to become a Governess. Reading and studying in her valuable spare time was her only access to science. Even though she now had a job Marie loved science just as much but her dream of becoming a scientist seemed like an impossible hope.

However, in 1891 her sister opened a new door for Marie and gave her the chance to live in Paris meaning she could possibly for fill her lifetime dream of going to university and to finally study science. Marie soon enrolled in the Sorbonne University in Paris where she spent every living, breathing moment studying physics and maths- she discovered that she had a constant appetite for learning.

 Three years later in 1894 she met Pierre Currie- a scientist who worked in the city- who she married a year after.

Marie and Pierre then began their research in the school of chemistry and physics in Paris. They then began to develop their discoveries on the invisible rays given off by uranium – which had recently been discovered by Professor Henri Becquerel. She eventually discovered an element, which she named Radio Activity. This mysterious element has being used all around you some good some bad. For example: Cancer treatment and X rays. Unfortunately radioactivity was also behind the WWII Japanese bombs.

After winning 6 international awards including the Nobel Prize for physics and maths and helping injured soldiers of WWI on the frontline. Mari sadly passed away due to the lifetime exposure of Radioactivity. Her work is still cherished today and is constantly saving lives.

Angel Rice Biography

Stingray Allstars cheerleader and Team USA power tumbler, Angel Rice was born on the 4th December 1998 in Atlanta GA, where she still lives. Angel started tumbling at a very young age and has been a cheerleader since the age of 6. In 2016 she got a Guinness world record for the most double twists done in a minute and she did 10. Angel has won Cheersport’s “So You Think You Can Tumble” competition 6 times in a row. She is also know as “Athlete of the Games” because she’s the 3 times champion of the Allstar Games. She has won the Cheerleading World Championships twice, once in 2012 with Stingrays Orange and a second time in 2015 with California Allstars Smoed. Angel is inspirational to many young cheerleaders, especially athletes from ethnic minorities and she has a partnership with Marci Lawson called Black Girls Cheer to encourage them to excel in the sport. Many of Angel’s tumbling videos go viral thanks to her large social media following on Instagram (345k followers). She has a brother called Jaden and a sister, De’keira who are also cheerleaders. She has many amazing coaches e.g., Frank Riley III and Roger Schonder.
